The California 65 Chemical List is updated again!
California's 65 chemicals list is updated again
On December 29, the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) announced that, effective December 31, 2021, perfluorononanoic acid (PFNA) and its salts will be added to the list of chemicals known to cause reproductive toxicity in California to comply with the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Substances Enforcement Act of 1986 (known as Proposition CA65).
On December 22, the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) announced the addition of perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS) and its salts, as well as transformers and degradation precursors, to the list of chemicals known to cause cancer in California, effective December 24, 2021, in order to comply with the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 (known as Proposition CA65).
On December 17, the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) announced that effective December 17, 2021, the addition of tetrahydrofuran (CAS No. 109-99-9), 2-ethylhexyl acrylate (CAS No. 103-11-7), methyl acrylate (CAS No. 96-33-3), and trimethyl acrylate (CAS No. 96-33-3) will be added to the list of chemicals known to cause cancer in California. 96-33-3) and trimethylolpropane triacrylate (technical grade) to the list of chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer in order to comply with the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 (known as Proposition CA65).
In March, the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) announced that molybdenum trioxide (CAS No. 1313-27-5) and indium tin oxide (CAS No. 50926-11-9) will be added to the California 65 list of chemicals known to cause cancer, effective March 19, 2021.
This year, the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) has issued four updates to the California 65 Chemical List for a total of eight chemicals.

Use
Perfluorononanoic acid (PFNA) and its salts, perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS) and its salts, as well as transformers and degradation precursors.
All are substances inside PFAS (perfluorinated alkyl compounds), and because the physical and chemical properties of PFAS include oil repellency, water resistance, high temperature resistance, etc., they are widely used in various consumer products for water repellency or stain resistance, including stain and water repellency fabrics, food contact paper and cardboard, non-stick products (e.g., Teflon), polishes, waxes, firefighting foams and cleaning products, etc. In the electrical and electronics industry, they are also widely used in semiconductors, PCB boards and many kinds of electronic products.
2-Ethylhexyl acrylate and methyl acrylate.
Used as polymerization monomers for soft polymers and play an internal plasticizing role in copolymers; also commonly used in various resins for coatings, textiles, paper, leather, construction adhesives and other industrial applications.
Indium tin oxide.
Used to increase the electrical conductivity of materials, mainly used to make liquid crystal displays, flat panel displays, plasma displays, touch screens, organic light-emitting diodes, and solar cells, and anti-static coatings and EMI shielding transparent conductive coatings.
Molybdenum trioxide.
Used in the metallurgical industry as a raw material for powder metallurgy and various molybdenum metal materials, and in the chemical industry as a molybdenum source additive for various molybdenum compounds and as a raw material for molybdenum catalysts. In the chemical industry, it is used as a molybdenum source additive for various molybdenum compounds and as a raw material for molybdenum catalysts. High purity molybdenum trioxide is used in the production of reduced molybdenum powder, fission catalysts, hydrogenation catalysts, pigments, ceramics and glass.
Tetrahydrofuran.
Can be used in the production of stretch spandex fibers. It is also an excellent solvent commonly used, especially for dissolving PVC, polyvinyl chloride and butanilide, and is widely used as a solvent for surface coatings, printing inks, film coatings, protective coatings, extractants and surface treatment agents for artificial synthetic leather.
Trimethylolpropane Triacrylate (Industrial Grade).
Used as a reactive diluent for UV-curable coatings and inks, also widely used in photosetting inks, surface coatings, paints and adhesives, and gives good abrasion resistance and hardness adhesion and brightness.
Background.
California's OEHHA 65 list of chemicals known to cause cancer or reproductive toxicity is updated at least once a year, and currently contains more than 1,000 chemicals.
Companies that use chemicals from this list must give "clear and reasonable" warning labels, or the company must use scientific data to prove that the concentration of the substance is less than the safe harbor level during normal consumer use.
HCT Solution.
CA65 chemical list is frequently updated, HCT hereby reminds relevant enterprises to promptly investigate the content of CA65 hazardous chemicals in their own products to ensure that the products meet the most CA65 proposal requirements.HCT has a professional technical team and rich experience in hazardous substance control, and can provide professional consulting and testing services for enterprises.
